Report – Man United fans urge club to re-sign 25-year-old who has a buy back clause

Earlier today, we covered a story unearthing quotes from Memphis Depay’s latest book. The Dutchman was extremely open and honest about his time at Manchester United – and why he blames himself for the failed move.

The 25-year-old struggled desperately at Old Trafford but one thing you never lose is sheer talent. Memphis has bags of ability and right now he’s using that to great effect in France with Lyon.

In the aftermath, United fans have been reacting to the story, and as you’d imagine, several Red Devils supporters have taken to Twitter, urging United to re-sign the Dutchman during this transfer window.

It is worth pointing out that United do have a buy back clause in Memphis’ contract – in a rare occasion where the Red Devils were smart when it came to selling players.

Personally, I think this ship has probably sailed. It’s one thing failing once with a player, but can you imagine if he came back and lightning struck twice?

Yes, he has definitely matured, there’s no doubting that. However, I’m not sure coming back and joining this absolute circus that’s taking place at United right now is in his best interests.

Memphis: “But even then I have the qualities to perform better than I did. So when you look beyond my excuses, only one conclusion is left over: I lost myself and I lost God. So there is only one person to blame: that’s me and nobody else.” #mufc [MEN]

Memphis: “My performances at United where not even close to what I am capable of. I was looking for excuses to justify the failure. I hid myself behind the fact that it was my first adventure abroad, that I had to adapt to the high level of the Premier League.” #mufc [MEN]
