Just In – Man United chief to hold face to face talk with Inter boss to sort deal

The Red Devils are expected to sell the Belgian to the Serie A side this summer. Inter have made their feelings regarding Belgium clear but are said to be baulking at United’s valuation.

The Italian side has offered numerous swap deals, with the Old Trafford outfit rejecting each.

Gazzetta Dello Sport claim Inter aren’t giving up without a fight and are planning a meeting with Woodward to push the deal along.

The Italian publication claims United’s acceptance of this meeting shows they are keen to get a deal over the line too.

Romelu Lukaku

Inter want the face-to-face chat to ensure an agreement is found.

Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic have reportedly been separately offered to the Premier League side as makeweights in any potential deal for Lukaku.

Inter would also consider loaning the striker – but this would mean paying a hefty fee to United.

Lukaku has made no secret of his desire to play in Serie A, recently praising Antonio Conte and the standard of the league.

“It’s good to see Conte has joined Inter. For me he’s the most effective manager in the world,” he told reporters while on international duty with Belgium in June.

“I’ve already taken a decision regarding the future however I can’t reveal it because I have a contract with Manchester United and since I respect the club.

“I am a big Serie a lover, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one, I love Italy.

“And then Cristiano Ronaldo arrived, [Maurizio] Sarri can move to Juventus, [Carlo] Ancelotti is at Napoli, it’ll be an exciting Serie A.

“The club and my agent will talk about it however I have already made my call.

“Conte knows what I think about him.
“You know I’m not somebody who likes to talk about my personal relationship with managers, but I’m a Manchester United player.

“If something happens, you know, I think the teams and my agents have to do the talking.”
