Sad news for Chelsea as Blues star sent home from international duty due to injury

As reported by the Croatian national team’s official Twitter account, Mateo Kovacic has been sent home from international duty because of him being injured, with the Chelsea ace being replaced by Mijo Caktas.

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been sent home from international duty with Croatia because of injury, news that’ll be sad for the Blues to hear.

Although Kovacic is still yet to find the net in a Chelsea shirt, the Croatian has still managed to find himself in the club’s starting line-up more often than not.

The exact extent of Kovacic’s injury remains to be seen, but if the Croatian ends up being out for over a few weeks, it’ll come as a big issue for Frank Lampard’s team.

Should Kovacic’s injury put him out for action for fewer than two weeks, it won’t return as much of a blow to the Blues seeing as there’s an international break coming up.

The former Real Madrid man has fifty-six appearances for the west London club since the beginning of last season, with the player proving to be a key member of the club’s team squad since then.

However, if the midfielder does end up being out for over a couple of weeks because of this injury, the 25-year-old will certainly miss at least one or two matches for Chelsea, a scenario that is far from ideal.
